Digital Device Requirements
Proper preparation of your device is essential for a smooth Digital SAT experience. This guide provides a comprehensive checklist to ensure your equipment is ready, from device compatibility and app installation to power management and backup options.
Before test day, confirm that your device is approved for the Digital SAT. You may use:
Note: Personal Chromebooks and mobile phones are not permitted.
The Digital SAT is administered through the Bluebook™ app. Follow these steps to get started:
Download Bluebook:
Visit bluebook.app.collegeboard.orgbluebook.app.collegeboard.org and download the application on the device you will be using for the test.
Install the App:
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Sign In:
Open Bluebook and log in using your College Board account credentials.
It is critical to complete the exam setup ahead of time. During this process:
Select Your Test:
In the Bluebook app, choose your upcoming SAT from the available list.
Run the Exam Setup:
This process checks your device’s compatibility, downloads the exam, and generates your admission ticket.
Save Your Admission Ticket:
Either print or email the ticket to yourself. You will need to present it on test day.
Ensure that your device is prepared for a long testing session:
Battery Life:
Your device should have a battery life sufficient for at least 3 hours of continuous use.
Bring a Power Source:
Since access to power outlets may be limited, carry a power cord or portable charger to avoid any interruptions.
Make sure your equipment is fully functional:

Utilize Bluebook’s "Test Your Device" feature to ensure that your system meets all requirements.
Run a Practice Test:
Familiarize yourself with the test format by taking a full-length practice test within the Bluebook app. This helps you identify and resolve any technical issues before the exam.
Depending on your device, using the right accessories can enhance your testing experience:
External Keyboard:
Required for tablets (and not permitted for laptops) to ensure comfortable typing.
External Mouse:
Can be used with all devices. For reliability, opt for wired versions or ensure your Bluetooth accessories are fully charged.
If you do not have access to a suitable device:
Request a Loaner:
Indicate your need for a loaner device during the SAT registration process.
Submit Early:
Make sure to request the loan at least 30 days before test day to ensure availability.
Test Day Protocol:
Arrive at least 30 minutes early on test day to receive and set up the loaner device.
