Compatible Devices for the Digital SAT

Approved Devices

The Digital SAT is delivered via the Bluebook™ application, which works on certain personal and school-managed devices. Here’s a breakdown of what’s allowed:

Windows Devices

• Device Types:
  Personal or school-managed Windows laptops and tablets.

• Operating Systems:

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Exclusions: Devices running Windows in S mode or Windows 11 SE are not supported.

• Minimum Requirements:

  • Processor: 1 GHz
  • RAM: At least 2 GB
  • Storage: Minimum 1 GB of free space
  • Display: At least a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Tip: For tablets, an external keyboard is highly recommended.

Mac Devices

• Device Types:
  Personal or school-managed Mac laptops.

• Operating Systems:

  • macOS 11.4 or later

• Minimum Requirements:

  • Processor: 1 GHz
  • RAM: At least 2 GB
  • Storage: Minimum 1 GB of free space
  • Display: At least a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Note: External keyboards are not permitted on laptops.

iPads

• Device Types:
  Personal or school-managed iPads, including models such as iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 (or later), iPad 5th generation (or later), and iPad Mini 4 (or later).

• Operating Systems:

  • iPadOS 15.0 or later
  • Exclusion: Versions from iPadOS 17.0.0 to 17.0.3 are not supported.

• Minimum Requirements:

  • Storage: At least 16 GB total storage with a minimum of 250 MB free
  • Display: Minimum an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Tip: External keyboards are allowed and recommended for better performance.

Chromebooks

• Device Types:
  Only school-managed Chromebooks are allowed.

• Configuration:
  These devices must be set up in kiosk mode by the school.

• Important:
  Personal Chromebooks are not permitted for test day.

Devices Not Permitted

To uphold test security and ensure a standardized experience, the following devices are not allowed:

• Personal Chromebooks
• Mobile phones or smartphones
• Desktops (unless they are school-managed and pre-approved)
• Devices running unsupported operating systems such as Windows 11 SE or iPadOS versions 17.0.0–17.0.3
• Any devices with screen sizes smaller than the minimum requirements

Preparing Your Device

Before test day, follow these key steps to ensure your device is fully set up and ready:

1. Download and Install Bluebook™:

   • Go to bluebook.app.collegeboard.orgbluebook.app.collegeboard.org and download the application onto your approved device.
   • Complete the installation and sign in with your College Board credentials.

2. Complete the Exam Setup:

   • Run the setup process in Bluebook 1–5 days prior to test day.
   • The setup will check your device’s compatibility, download the exam, and generate your admission ticket.
   • Save or print your admission ticket, as it is required on test day.

3. Ensure Your Device is Charged:

   • Fully charge your device before heading to the test center.

Borrowing a Device

If you do not have a compatible device:

• On Test Day:
