When is retaking the SAT worth the effort?
Retaking is worth it when your colleges superscore, your subscores are uneven (e.g., strong ERW but weaker Math), or you are within 30–80 points of a meaningful score threshold and can point to specific, fixable gaps. If you are already at or above your target school’s middle‑50% range and your application deadline is near, the time and stress of a retake are unlikely to pay off.
