Founded in 1931, LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is Louisiana’s oldest public health sciences institution, enrolling approximately 2,699 students across medical, dental, nursing, allied health, public health, and graduate programs. The campus, located in New Orleans’ urban core, houses six professional schools, 12 centers of excellence, and two patient care clinics, serving the state, region, and global community through education, research, and healthcare services. LSUHSC New Orleans was a leader in disaster response and recovery following Hurricane Katrina, reopening University Hospital in 2006 and establishing University Medical Center New Orleans as a state‑of‑the‑art teaching hospital in 2015.
