Founded in 1865 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky, UK is the state’s flagship institution with enrollment of 35,952 students in Fall 2024, making it the largest university in Kentucky. Applicants who choose not to submit test scores will be evaluated on the rigor of high school curriculum and written essay, while those who submit scores may benefit scholarship considerations. Transfer applicants and professional programs may have specific testing requirements; international students must demonstrate English proficiency via TOEFL, IELTS, or other approved assessments.
