Founded in 1887 by a papal charter granted by Pope Leo XIII, The Catholic University of America (CUA) is the only pontifical university in the United States not primarily serving as a seminary. Located in the Brookland neighborhood known as "Little Rome," CUA enrolls over 5,300 students across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs spanning architecture, arts & sciences, engineering, law, music, nursing, and theology. The 176‑acre campus features historic buildings like Caldwell Hall, modern research centers, and strong ties with Catholic organizations such as the Knights of Columbus. CUA is classified as an R1: Doctoral University with very high research activity and holds accreditations from MSCHE and multiple professional bodies .
SAT Scores are not accepted
This university does not accept SAT Scores.
Since June 2020, Catholic University of America has adopted a test‑blind policy, meaning SAT and ACT scores are not considered for admission, University Honors Program entry, or merit‑based scholarship decisions. Applicants may still submit scores for program prerequisites or state certification requirements, but neither standardized tests nor scores impact the holistic evaluation of candidates .
