Founded in 1821 by an act of Congress, GWU enrolls approximately 26,457 students across its Foggy Bottom, Mount Vernon, and Virginia Science and Technology campuses. Accredited by MSCHE and classified as an R1 doctoral university, GWU offers over 100 undergraduate and 200 graduate programs with strengths in international affairs, public policy, business, and engineering. GWU is test-optional for most first-year and transfer applicants: SAT or ACT scores may be submitted but are not required. However, applicants to the accelerated Seven-Year B.A./M.D. program, homeschooled applicants, and those from schools with narrative evaluations must submit standardized test scores.
