Founded in 1923 by the YMCA to provide night classes for working professionals, STCL enrolls approximately 975 J.D. students across full‑time and part‑time programs. Accredited by the American Bar Association and a member of the AALS, the law school offers hands‑on experiential learning through its nationally renowned trial advocacy, moot court, and alternative dispute resolution programs. The campus at 1303 San Jacinto Street features modern classrooms, a moot courtroom, and collaborative study spaces in Houston’s historic district. STCL maintains an 11:1 student–faculty ratio and offers specialized certificates in environmental law, global energy, and healthcare compliance, among others. Graduates benefit from strong bar passage rates (91.6% on July 2024 exam) and a robust alumni network in Texas and nationwide.
SAT Scores are not accepted
This university does not accept SAT Scores.
STCL requires all applicants to submit an official LSAT score (or GRE in lieu of LSAT) and does not accept SAT or ACT scores for admission. Admissions decisions are based on LSAT performance, undergraduate GPA, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. The average LSAT for incoming students is 151–157 (25th–75th percentile). International applicants must meet equivalent credential evaluations and English proficiency requirements.
