Marian University was founded in 1851 by the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, and relocated to Indianapolis in 1937. On July 1, 2009, Marian College officially became Marian University. As of 2017, the university enrolled 2,431 undergraduate, 1,164 graduate, and 650 doctoral students across more than 90 academic programs in liberal arts, business, education, health sciences, nursing, and osteopathic medicine. The campus includes the Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine, founded in 2010 as the state’s first osteopathic medical school at a Catholic university.
