Founded in 1929 by the Sisters of Mercy, Carlow University enrolls approximately 2,140 undergraduates and graduate students across over 90 programs in liberal arts, health sciences, business, and education. The 14‑acre urban campus in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood features Frances Warde Hall, the Palumbo Hall of Science and Technology, and modern learning facilities. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Carlow is organized into two colleges—Arts & Sciences and Health & Wellness—and emphasizes service‑learning, leadership, and social justice. Athletic teams, known as the Celtics, compete in NCAA Division III’s Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, fostering holistic student development.
