Your calculator should be in degree mode for the Digital SAT, since angles are virtually always given in degrees. A common mistake is computing trig functions in radians, which produces incorrect decimal values. Always check your calculator mode at the start of the math section to avoid this error.
For 30 degrees, sine is 1/2, cosine is sqrt(3)/2, and tangent is 1/sqrt(3). For 45 degrees, both sine and cosine equal sqrt(2)/2, and tangent equals 1. For 60 degrees, sine is sqrt(3)/2, cosine is 1/2, and tangent is sqrt(3). Memorizing these lets you solve problems without a calculator.

The related special triangles are 30-60-90 (with side ratios 1:sqrt(3):2) and 45-45-90 (with side ratios 1:1:sqrt(2)).
Key precautions include checking that your calculator is in degree mode before starting, converting all units to a consistent system before calculating, and always labeling your diagram with O (opposite), A (adjacent), and H (hypotenuse) relative to your reference angle. For small angles, verify that sine is small and cosine is near 1 as a sanity check.
