Established in 1971, UW–Colleges offered a liberal arts, transfer-parallel curriculum across its branch campuses and an online associate degree program. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, the system enrolled over 11,600 students and served as the freshman-sophomore gateway for the UW System. Following declining enrollments, the UW Board of Regents merged the Colleges with seven four-year campuses on June 30, 2018, allowing campuses to continue as regional branches.
