SAT University Admissions Guide

Founded in 1927, UTPA served more than 20,000 students and was classified as a doctoral research university; it was one of the largest Hispanic-Serving Institutions in Texas before merging with UT Brownsville to form UTRGV in 2015. Admission requirements historically included test scores along with class rank and GPA.

This university requires SAT Scores for some programs.
Prior to its merger, UTPA required SAT or ACT scores for applicants not in the top percentiles of their class; top 10% Texas high school graduates were guaranteed admission without score thresholds, while others were reviewed based on rank, GPA, curriculum, and standardized test performance.
