Established in 1886 as the Delaware Conference Academy, UMES enrolls 2,840 students and offers 40 undergraduate and 15 graduate programs through its School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health, and College of Business and Technology. The rural 1,138‑acre campus includes a research farm and the Paul S. Sarbanes Coastal Ecology Center, and UMES is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
