University of Asmara

Public school in Asmara, Maekel Region, Eritrea

Founded in 1958, the University of Asmara was the only university in Eritrea for several decades, playing a crucial role in the nation's intellectual life. It offered a wide range of programs in arts, sciences, and economics. In 2006, as part of a governmental restructuring of higher education, the university was suspended, and its functions were decentralized to newly created colleges across the country. It does not currently enroll students.

The University of Asmara is not currently operational and does not accept students. Prior to its suspension, admission was based on national secondary school results. The SAT was not a part of its admission process.
