Established in 1962 through the merger of Mission House Seminary and Yankton School of Theology, United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities is affiliated with the United Church of Christ yet maintains an independent, multi‑denominational identity. Located in St. Paul since 2019, the seminary offers the Doctor of Ministry, Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Leadership, and Master of Arts programs, emphasizing social justice, arts integration, and interfaith dialogue. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, United houses the Kaleo Center for Faith, Justice & Social Transformation and publishes the journal ARTS: The Arts in Religious & Theological Studies. With small cohorts and a focus on experiential learning, the institution fosters formation for ministry leaders.

United Theological Seminary does not consider SAT or ACT scores in its admissions process; applicants are evaluated on academic transcripts, statements of faith, recommendations, and professional experience, with English proficiency tests required for non‑native speakers. There is no undergraduate admission program, and standardized college entrance exams are not accepted. Applicants demonstrate readiness through prior academic and ministry work. The seminary’s open and inclusive policy admits students regardless of age, race, or religious affiliation.
