Founded in 1909 as the Museum Art School of the Portland Art Museum, PNCA became independent in 1994 and merged with Willamette University in 2021, offering 10 BFA majors and graduate MFA and MA programs through the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies . Accredited by NASAD and NWCCU, PNCA enrolls 647 students (522 undergraduates, 125 graduates) in studio-based curricula emphasizing creative experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement . Its historic main campus occupies the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design at 511 NW Broadway in the Pearl District, complemented by student housing in the Glass Building at 2139 N Kerby Avenue .
