Established in 1970 on the grounds of the former Monticello College, Lewis and Clark Community College serves approximately 3,973 credit and non‐credit students annually across nine locations in the Metro East region of Illinois. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, L&C offers associate degrees, certificates, workforce training, and personal enrichment programs at its Godfrey and Edwardsville campuses, as well as community education centers in Alton, Carlinville, Jerseyville, Bethalto, and East Alton. The Godfrey campus features the Hatheway Cultural Center’s Ann Whitney Olin Theatre, modern science and nursing buildings, and extensive student support services. L&C competes athletically as the Trailblazers in the NJCAA Mid‑West Athletic Conference and emphasizes community engagement and transfer pathways to four‑year universities.

Lewis and Clark Community College maintains an open‐admissions policy requiring only a high school diploma or equivalent; SAT and ACT scores are optional and accepted solely for determining placement in English, math, and reading courses via placement tests (including ALEKS PPL), but are not considered in admission decisions.
