Established in 1841 as St. John's College, Fordham University is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution in the northeastern United States. With over 16,500 students across three campuses—Rose Hill in the Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, and Westchester in West Harrison—Fordham offers undergraduate through doctoral programs across arts and sciences, business, law, social service, and education. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the university maintains an 11:1 student-faculty ratio, extensive study abroad opportunities, and NCAA Division I athletic teams known as the Rams.

Since May 2020, Fordham has maintained a test-optional policy for SAT and ACT scores for all first-year and transfer applicants; scores are one factor among many and those who choose not to submit will not be penalized. Certain programs, such as Army ROTC, require SAT or ACT scores for admission.
