Established in 1957 as Daytona Beach Junior College under the Florida Legislature, DSC is one of the first public colleges in Florida offering certificates, associate, and baccalaureate degrees. As of fall 2022, it enrolls 11,584 students across over 100 academic programs spanning healthcare, hospitality, emergency services, business, education, and technology. The main campus sits off International Speedway Boulevard near Daytona International Speedway and features the Southeast Museum of Photography, the Mori Hosseini College of Hospitality and Culinary Management, and suite‑style student residences. Accredited by SACS, DSC also offers online learning and partnership pathways—such as DirectConnect to UCF—for seamless transfer to four‑year universities. The college’s Falcons teams compete in NJCAA Region 8’s Mid‑Florida Conference.

DSC maintains open admissions and does not require SAT or ACT scores for program acceptance; however, applicants may submit SAT/ACT scores in lieu of placement testing if they meet defined score thresholds.
