Founded in 1963 as the Micronesian Teacher Education Center and reconstituted in 1993 as the national college of FSM, COM‑FSM provides comprehensive academic and technical training. It has a national campus in Palikir, Pohnpei, and state campuses in Chuuk, Kosrae, Yap, plus a Fisheries & Maritime Institute on Yap island. The college offers certificate, associate degree, and third‑year certificate programmes in fields such as elementary education, business, accounting, and vocational trades. Accredited by the ACCJC, COM‑FSM serves over 4,000 students annually and partners with regional stakeholders for workforce development.

COM‑FSM requires the COMET entrance test for regular admission; applicants unable to take the COMET—particularly those educated outside FSM—may submit SAT, ACT, or TOEFL scores for case‑by‑case evaluation by the Admissions Board.
